Why Adopt a Rescue?

Adopting a rescued Keeshond is a great way to enrich your family and save a dog's life.

 

Some of the benefits of adopting a dog include: companionship, entertainment, life-lessons, a better quality of life and mental and physical health improvements

Adopting from Keeshond Affiliated Rescuers of the Mid Atlantic (K.A.R.M.A.)

There are a number of steps to become an approved K.A.R.M.A. adopter

• Complete the application form

• Provide 3 references who will be contacted

• Veterinarian reference

• Home visit

Our adoption fee varies dependent on age and health of the dog  The fee includes all vaccinations, a heartworm test, fecal parasite test, blood tests, complete veterinary check and treatment of any applicable issues found. All dogs will be spayed/neutered prior to placement (unless medically contraindicated).

 

We choose the best home for the dog to ensure a life long placement.

 

Additional Requirements

 

• Willing and able to spend time and money to maintain the dog for its natural lifetime

• Renters must provide written landlord approval

• The dog is a companion animal and is not to live on a chain or ignored in a kennel

• If you move residences, you must plan on taking the dog with you. If you are unable to do this,  you must return the dog to K.A.R.M.A.
